FAQS about TCP’s High Bay Lighting

How will installing LED high bays help save my business money?

TCP’s LED high bays use a fraction of the energy that fluorescents, HIDs and incandescents do, which means you’ll enjoy lower utility bills once you make the switch. Plus, their incredibly long lifespan means your maintenance crew won’t have to replace them for 5 years or more – saving time and freeing up light bulb storage space!

What’s the difference between linear and round high bay lights?

They’re both excellent LED lights for industrial use. The main differences between them are their shape and light spread. Linear high bays are rectangular, so the light spread – aka the way the light falls on the ground below the fixture – will be in a rectangular pattern. This option is perfect for lighting a store or warehouse that features aisles or rows of machinery. Linear fixtures can be mounted in rows that align with the aisles or equipment below them to most effectively illuminate the spaces in between. Round high bays are shaped like a spaceship – which is why we call them UFO lights! Their light spread will be in a circular pattern, making them particularly effective for illuminating large open spaces.

Another difference is the location ratings for these products. Our Q Series and Select Series high bays are rated for damp locations, which means they cannot be installed where they will come into direct contact with water. Our Economy UFO high bays are wet location rated, so they can be used outdoors and in other water-exposure spaces.

Which TCP high bay luminaire is right for my facility?

The high bay lighting options we design and manufacture are terrifically versatile – and every lighting project has its own unique challenges. That means there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to optimal illumination. Reach out to us and a TCP expert will be happy to help you pick the right product and get it shipped to you without delay.

Can I retrofit my warehouse with these high bay lights?

Probably! We designed our LED high bays for easy installation in a variety of ways. Depending on the type of fixtures you’re replacing – fluorescent tubes, metal halides, incandescents – you may be able to install your new TCP LEDs in the same footprint as your old lighting. Contact us for personalized help with your retrofit job.

How many Q Series High Bays do I need to light my warehouse?

That’s not so easy to answer without more specifics! Multiple factors figure into the number of lights you’ll need, including the total area to be lit, the height at which your lights hang and the lumen package you choose for your Q Series High Bays. We’re happy to help you figure it out – just contact us!
