Ellis Yan to Speak at U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Summit

Seattle, WA – Ellis Yan of TCP, Inc. will address the 2007 Mayors Climate Protection Summit today. The President and CEO of the leading manufacturer of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) will discuss how use of the energy saving lamps can reduce global warming.

Just imagine, if every American home replaced just one incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb, we could lower energy consumption and prevent the release of greenhouse gasses equivalent to the emissions of 800,000 cars. That’s a lot of savings from a simple act of conservation that anybody can do. And, installing CFLs will reduce your electric bill and pay for themselves.

TCP, Inc. is the Title Sponsor of the Summit,
the largest-ever gathering of American mayors on climate issues, presented by  the United States Conference of Mayors. More than 100 of the nation’s mayors are attending. The summit will meet Nov. 1 and 2.

“This summit will highlight how cities can lead the way in the fight against global warming,” said host Mayor Greg Nickels if Seattle. “It's not just the unprecedented number of mayors at this summit who are showing real leadership, but the hundreds of other cities across America that are working to reduce greenhouse gas pollution in their own communities. Together we are making a real difference for the future of our cities and the planet.”  Former President Bill Clinton will speak, and former Vice President Al Gore will hold a question and answer session via satellite.

Conference leaders know that strengthening
and beginning new partnerships with the private sector, non-profits and the federal government will define the success of a carbon footprint reduction in cities. A new Climate Protection Council will be unveiled to underscore the relationship needed between local elected officials and business leaders to accelerate green projects. The 7 Charter Members include: The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers; American Chemistry Council; DuPont; Johnson Controls, Inc.; TCP, Inc.; Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; and Waste Management Inc.
