National Retail Sales Manager - Toronto



The National Retail Sales Manager primary role is calling on new accounts  with emphasis on sales analysis , sales planning and executing product launch and  via  domestic or direct import order fulfillment.   Responsible for overall sales and profitability of select accounts and coordinates with the TCP utility team where applicable.  This role interacts with Marketing, Finance Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain and is the focal point of corporate communication to and from customer accounts.

Essential Duties:

  • Actively support the company’s culture and business mission by always putting TCP’s people and its customers first.
  • Solicits and obtains new accounts within retail channel through direct contact and coordination with sales rep agencies.
  • Primary sales management and leader in planning and executing product  strategy,  regular and promotional programs, utility programs and special events..
  • Collecting and analyzing sales and marketing data to monitor account and TCP sales performance .
  • Create  and maintain current product offering in  TCP  & customer systems, including coordinating JD Edwards (ERP System)  inputs with appropriate TCP depts.
  • Conduct thorough review of profit margins with the TCP pricing manager.
  • Create product forecast and update with supply chain on regular basis.
  • Communicate and coordinate sales recommendations and category management with customer to grow market share and profitability.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Other responsibilities or projects assigned by manager.


  • 5 + years of consumer product sales  in retail environments. ( Food & Drug, Discount, Big Box, warehouse clubs). 
  • Knowledge of  lighting industry preferred. Sales and Marketing experience with large chain or big box retailers desired.   
  • Experience with JDA space management system or equivalent. 
  • Proficient in MS Office, and data base analysis. 
  • ERP experience with JD Edwards, SAP or equivalent is preferred.
  • Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance

  • Ability to communicate within all levels of customer and TCP organization.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to resolve issues and/or improve customer relations.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to provide strategic input to the corporate and customer planning process.

 Education / Training

  • College degree in a Business Discipline preferred.


  • Sitting for long periods of time, completing tasks using a computer and other office equipment.
  • Position requires frequent talking, listening, viewing computer screen, occasional standing, walking and reaching.
  • May require lifting up 10 to 25 lbs.
  • Job position responsibilities are generally performed in a business office environment with computers, printers and phones.
  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane, as necessary to successfully perform role.
